Short Term 12 (2013)

Every once in a while, a film comes along that changes your perspective on everything in life. To say that this was one of those films would be an understatement. Short Term 12 was without a doubt the best film I have seen this year. Blending the perfect cast, gritty cinematography, a heartfelt story, a delicate soundtrack, and a fresh, talented director makes for one hell of a film. While Brie Larson should obviously be commended for her performance, I think that the rest of the cast performed equally as well. Their performances are so believable that I nearly teared up throughout the whole second half of the movie, and I left the theatre with an unexplainable pang in my heart. By the end of the movie, I pretty much fell in love with each and every one of the characters. I’m excited to see what Destin Cretton produces in the future. This is one director that I will definitely be keeping my eye on.
